Role Description
The Research Volunteering Coordinator is a well-organized individual that possesses excellent interpersonal skills both in a group setting and on an individual basis. The successful candidate will work on developing UYDO’s Research framework for members– the aim is to launch this program in late 2010. The framework will encapsulate how UYDO and our field partners identify research opportunities and feed these to UYDO’s member base, how UYDO choose applicants (and the criterion for applying), the support for researchers during the process, quality control (critical), and end product (delivery, reporting, etc). The successful applicant will be given substantial responsibility and autonomy.
Responsibilities
- Research and develop UYDO’s research framework
- Liaise with Field partners and other stakeholders to ensure that their views and opinions are being included
- Work with the head of operations and head of programs in finding ways of integrating the framework into UYDO’s existing operations.
- Develop the support material needed
- Coordinate and manage the research program when implemented
- Other projects as identified
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills, especially writing and editing
- Exceptional research skills and experience with major research project, thesis, etc.
- Qualitative and quantitative analysis skills
- Extensive computer skills (Especially Microsoft Office)
- Interest in and knowledge of microfinance, finance and development issues
- Excellent interpersonal skills in group and individual situations
- Volunteering experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and complete projects by deadline
- Detail-oriented, ability to take initiative and work independently
- Ability to work on own initiative and multitask
- Self-Starter, Team player
- Fluent in English
- Ability to work with members of different backgrounds
- Commitment to UYDO's aims and objectives
- This post is voluntary and we're ideally looking for a commitment of 7-14 hours a week for 1 year
